Cuckoo Rock

£8.50

Strong & aromatic Assam tea, with a malty flavour.

Robust and malty, Assam has a powerful punch compared to some of its more refined counterparts. Extremely Important in the tea world, it forms the basis of most of our ‘English’ blends.

Our Assam tea has been tightly rolled and reflects deep, dark hues, mixed with a scattering of amber and olive green. Enjoy a cup of this strong bright tea before you begin your walk into the day ahead.

No one is entirely sure why Cuckoo Rock was named thus. Maybe it’s due to the shape of its summit, or possibly the place where you can best hear the first call of the spring cuckoo after a long, cold winter. Either way it is a monumental site that has been captivating imaginations for hundreds of years.

For those who love magic, legend tells tales of the fae who would meet and dance around this rock in the light of the full moon. For those of a more practical mind, it was an important rock on the smuggling circuit, especially when it came to hiding intoxicating beverages!

So make a flask of Assam, get your bouldering shoes on and head out towards this timeless wonder.

Loose Leaf or Bio Pyramids?

This tea is available in loose form or in our beautiful bio pyramids. Our biodegradable tea pyramids are suitable for composting and are completely free of microplastics. Made from a material called SOILON which contains lactic acid derived from corn starch, they are completely biodegradable and decompose within 30 days.

The dangers posed by microplastics on the environment are well documented. What people are less aware of are the staggering amounts of microplastics present in most tea bags. When steeped in hot water, they release billions of microplastic particles into the mug, each one the size of a grain of pollen.

When purchased in loose form, this tea is sealed within a biodegradable cornstarch pouch. So when buying our teas, whether in loose or pyramid form, you can do so safe in the knowledge that our tea bags and packaging materials are completely biodegradeable and free of microplastics.
