The mighty Yes Tor used to be flagged as the highest peak on Dartmoor until it was rather rudely demoted to second place, for the sake of a few meters.
It sits on the Okehampton side of Dartmoor and rises spectacularly to a height of over 2000ft. Such a splendid vantage has given it a firm place in the history of ancient civilisations and the modern British military.
The roads are well trodden but the hike is still steep. Set off early on a clear day to take advantage of the vast, inspiring views.
